Will Davison has claimed yet another pole position in Supercars, and will start from the front of the field in this evenings race at Sandown. Despite setting the fastest lap, Davison was quickly under investigation for a pit exit breach before commencing his lap, which may see a shake up of the order.
Shane Van Gisbergen was the fastest of the Kiwis, setting the second fastest time of the session. Andre Heimgartner also qualified for the top 10, and will start ninth following the Top 10 shootout.
Will Brown and Anton de Pasquale lock out the second row of the grid, ahead of Thomas Randle who returns following last weekends horror shunt which forced him out of the event. Randle starts alongside Winterbottom, ahead of James Courtney and Jack Le Brocq in seventh and eighth respectively, with Heimgartner and Broc Feeney rounding out the top 10.
Feeney was an unlucky tenth, with his lap disqualified for exceeding track limits after two purple sectors.
Qualifying part one was brought to an early finish, which saw a number of drivers caught out by a red flag caused by James Golding beaching his car in a wet outfield. Van Gisbergen, Waters and Davison topped the timings in this session, but David Reynolds was a victim and will start near the rear of the field alongside Chris Pither, Jack Smith, Nick Percat and Golding.
Cam Waters was a shock part two elimination, along with Chaz Mostert, who qualified 12th and 13th. Van Gisbergen left it late in the session to put in his fastest lap, sitting out of the top 10 before his final lap saw him make it through to part three after the chequered flag.
Race 24 begins at 6.55 this evening.
