The Valvoline D1NZ National Drifting Championship has announced a broadcast partnership deal with Repco for its full 2021 season, starting with this Saturday’s series opener at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.
“Motorsport is part of Repco’s DNA,” said Repco New Zealand general manager Louise Sixton.
“It’s what we grew up with. We’re stoked to be part of the Valvoline D1NZ National Drifting Championship and share our passion with a great group of fans.”
“It’s a natural fit for the series and means we’re growing a stable foundation for coming years,” added Brendon White, D1NZ series organiser.
“I grew up with Repco and worked there as a young car enthusiast. The dedication Repco has to motorsport means we are dealing with passionate car people which helps us spread the word of D1NZ and drifting.”
The series curtain raiser will be broadcast live on Sky Sport in New Zealand, and on Foxtel in Australia.
Having supported various forms of motorsport in New Zealand for almost 100 years, Repco has recently increased their rate of support on both sides of the Tasman.
In Australia the firm recently took over naming rights of both the Supercars series and the Bathurst 1000, while locally they backed last November’s Battle of Jack’s Ridge rally event.
As part of the parts company’s backing, it’s confirmed that the winner of the 2021 D1NZ title will also receive $15,000 worth of equipment and tools, supplied by Repco.
“Putting up a whole garage of tools and equipment as a prize really does help the drivers in 2021 too so we are grateful for the support,” added White.
The new prize means that D1NZ sports an outright 2021 prize pool worth over $45,000.
Local coverage starts this Saturday at 4.00pm on Sky Sports 5, and on Foxtel 506 from 2.00pm AEDT for Australian viewers.
