A heavy crash in FP1 for Brendon Leitch has unfortunately meant the Kiwi has withdrawn from this weekend’s British GT round at Spa-Francorchamps.
Details about the accident itself are still murky. Yet, we know Leitch went off at turn nine – ‘the corner with no name’ – in the Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan, which resulted in a red flag.
The car was then withdrawn from the rest of the weekend, bringing a premature end to Leitch’s British GT debut.
The weekend made up for the cancellation of the Portimao 24 Hour, which Leitch was set to enter.
Leipert confirmed that Leitch was taken to the hospital for observational checks and will be released tomorrow.
Leitch will link up with the Leipert Motorsport team later this year for another round of the Creventic endurance championship.
