New Zealand’s rising motocross star, Cole Davies, delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 250SX East/West Showdown in Philadelphia, securing a significant win in his debut professional Supercross season.
The 17-year-old from Waitoki showcased his exceptional talent at Lincoln Financial Field, marking a pivotal moment in his burgeoning career. Davies won by just over a second over Championship leader Haiden Deegan.

Riding for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, Davies demonstrated remarkable skill and composure throughout the event. His victory in Philadelphia adds to an already impressive rookie season, which includes a maiden win in the 250SX West class at the Seattle round.
The race restarted after a serious incident involving Daxton Bennick, with RJ Hampshire taking the lead. Deegan surged to third but made an error, which allowed Davies to pass him.
Davies then overtook Hampshire for the race lead and never looked back.
He then led most laps in that race, signalling his readiness to compete at the highest level.
Deegan rebounded to finish second, ahead of Hampshire in third. Hammaker placed fourth in front of his home crowd, while Jo Shimoda won a fierce duel with Tom Vialle for fifth.

“I grew up watching the guys I’m racing right now. It’s a big stage out here, and a lot of people are watching, but you know, I’m just trying to focus on myself. Two in a row, man, I’m stoked. It’s been a long journey to get to where I am—big thanks to the Monster Energy Yamaha Star team and my mechanic, Lockie
“We’ve been putting in the work. The whole group around me is very good. I’m striving to be the best I can, so I’m just stoked for everyone around me, too.” said Davies.
Davies’ rapid ascent in the Supercross world underscores his dedication and the robust support system surrounding him. As he continues to make waves in the 250SX class, fans and analysts alike are eager to witness the trajectory of this promising athlete.

With the Philadelphia victory, Davies solidifies his status as one of the sport’s most exciting new talents. He embodies the spirit and determination that define Supercross racing.
Davies sits second in the 2025 250 West Championship with 154 points, 17 points behind Deegan.
Supercross 250sx West returns in Denver on May 3rd after a brief hiatus.

I am visiting NZ on holiday and have been surprised that this kid is no coverage here. What he is doing in supercross is a generational thing! Way more impressive than almost any other kiwi is doing on the world stage. Get on board! He is special.
