Boost Mobile Australia has released a new documentary about this year’s all-Kiwi Bathurst 1000 wildcard entry of Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway.
It was a welcome return to Mount Panorama for the two drivers, especially Murphy considering he hadn’t competed in the 1000km race since 2014.
Stanaway last took part in Supercars in 2019 which proved to be a tough year for the Kiwi after missing seven races due to an aggravated past neck injury. He retired at the end of that year.
The documentary, called ‘Wildcard: One Last Shot’, hammers in how much their return means to not only themselves but their families, fans, the team, and Supercars as a whole.
Viewers can expect to see the build-up to the race weekend, the Kiwi duo’s performance in practice, qualifying, and the race, as well as appearances from Boost Mobile Founder and Executive Chairman Peter Adderton.
The footage was captured by One Nine Media and was directed and edited by fellow Supercars driver, Scott Pye.
Both drivers had impressed the team and fans alike all weekend including a special moment from Murphy when he beat his ‘Lap of the Gods’ time in practice.
Stanaway went on to clock fifth fastest in a wet qualifying session and then went on to put the car on the second row in the Top 10 Shootout, starting the race fourth on the grid.
Come race day, Murphy and Stanaway crossed the finish line in 11th position.
“Fans will get a raw look at exactly what went on behind the scenes with the wildcard which it’s the most compelling content I’ve seen,” Adderton said.
“We want Richie back on the grid and I’m sure once fans see this documentary which shows how he and Murph thrilled fans on and off the track, they’ll know exactly why.”
