Nick Cassidy will make his FIA World Endurance Championship debut for the Eurasia LMP2 team in in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps next month.
The defending Super Formula champion will partner fellow Kiwi Daniel Gaunt and Nobuya Yamanaka in Eurasia’s Ligier JS P217 for the six-hour race on April 25. All three drivers have driven together already, having competed together in the Asian Le Mans Series earlier this year.
Cassidy’s campaign in the Asian Le Mans series was beset with technical issues, achieving a best result of fourth at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand.
A date clash between the Suzuka Super GT race and the Le Mans test day has stopped Cassidy from being part of the Eurasia line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans later this year, although he will be in attendance for the race weekend in an advisory role.
Cassidy’s Japanese racing programme begins next month with the opening race of the Super GT series at Okayama on April 11, where he will be once again partner Ryō Hirakawa. He will also defend his Super Formula title – the first round being held a week after the Super GT opener.
