Jaguar TCS Racing’s Nick Cassidy has kicked off the Miami E-Prix weekend in strong fashion, setting the pace in the first Free Practice session.
With the Shakedown session canceled due to heavy rain, Free Practice 1 offered the first opportunity for the grid to test their GEN3 Evo machines on the Homestead Miami circuit before tomorrow’s race.
Cassidy clocked the fastest lap of the 22 drivers, completing the 3.551km circuit in 1m23.785s and setting the quickest final two sectors.
Antonio Felix da Costa secured second place for Porsche, followed by Taylor Barnard of McLaren in third.
Fellow Kiwi Mitch Evans took fourth, finishing just two-tenths of a second behind his Jaguar teammate.

Pascal Wehrlein rounded out the top five, though the session saw a near miss between him and Porsche teammate Felix da Costa, with a misunderstanding nearly causing contact.
Both Jaguar drivers are on the hunt for redemption following a difficult start to their 2024-25 campaigns.
Evans kicked off his season perfectly taking victory at the season opening E-Prix in São Paulo, though since, the Kiwi has failed to score points in the following three races. This pushing him down to seventh in the standings heading into the weekend.
It has been an even more challenging start for Cassidy, who went pointless for the opening three races of the season, only getting his first points on the board last time out in Jeddah, where Cassidy fought his way through from 17th on the grid to finish an impressive fifth. Following the points finish, Cassidy now sits 14th in the standings, 58 points behind the leader.
Formula E will return to the track for Free Practice 2, starting tonight at 11:30 PM NZT, followed by Qualifying and the race tomorrow morning, all live on SkySport.
