Erebus Motorsport has confirmed defending Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki will get behind the wheel for the first time in 2024 at the ITM Taupo Super400.
The 26-year-old will undertake a test day at Winton this week before making the trip across the Tasman for the New Zealand event on April 19-21.
“I’m excited to be back behind the wheel again, I needed some time away to prioritise my health, Kostecki said in a team statement.
“I’m grateful for the support, privacy and time Betty, Barry, and the team have given me.”
Erebus CEO Barry Ryan recognises the significance of the return of the six-time race winner.
“On behalf of Betty and the team, we are pleased Brodie is ready to drive again,” he said.
“Having Brodie back to work alongside Jack as he becomes more familiar with our cars will be a positive for our entire team.”
Todd Hazelwood stood in for Kostecki for the opening two rounds of the 2024 season and sits ninth in the championship standings, achieving three top-ten finishes and a best result of sixth in the third race of the Melbourne SuperSprint.
“A big thanks to Todd,” Ryan added.
“He performed brilliantly under considerable pressure and scrutiny, so hats off to him.
“We look forward to having him at the test day this week and back in the seat for the enduros later in the year.”
Hazelwood will drive for Erebus as a co-driver in the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000.
