Brendon Leitch has announced that he will compete in the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS with co-driver and fellow Kiwi Tim Miles. The pairing will drive an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 run by the Melbourne Performance Centre (MPC).
“It’s going to be pretty cool,” said Leitch. “I’m really looking forward to it, so pretty excited.”
Leitch brings a wealth of experience having raced in both Asia and Europe for a number of years and is the current 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe champion. It will be the first time competing on Australian soil for the Southlander as well as driving a GT3 in a sprint category having been used to endurance racing.
“That doesn’t faze me at all,” said Leitch. “I’ve been to plenty of new circuits over the last few seasons so used to learning a track pretty quickly. The format will be pretty similar to the Super Trofeo series I have competed in with one-hour races with a driver change in the middle.”
Leitch and Miles teamed up together along with Christina Orr to compete in the 2023 Highlands 6 Hour race in New Zealand back in November.
Leitch will move from his current base in Germany to live in Sydney, Australia, in time for the next round, 12–14 April 2024, at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as part of the Shannons Speed Series.
