Valtteri Bottas will take to the track in Australia this weekend to commandeer the 2016 Bathurst winning VF Commodore at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
The car is the one which Will Davison and Jonathon Webb drove to success in The Great Race despite being second across the line, behind Jamie Whincup. A 15-second post-race penalty for Whincup elevated the duo to the top step by a tight .1434 seconds over Shane van Gisbergen and Alex Premat.
Bottas will have series legend Craig Lowndes giving him advice on the drive, the Australian also set to take to the track in the Supercars demonstration in control of Broc Feeney’s 2022 Adelaide 500 Red Bull Commodore.
Lowndes will also take to the track in a historic 1986 Benetton B186 BMW Formula 1 car at points over the weekend.
The 10-time Formula 1 race winner will also compete in the Heritage Touring Cars category, taking the wheel of an Alfa Romeo GTV Group A.
A gap in the Formula 1 calendar between the Saudi Arabian and Australian Grand Prix’s makes the drive possible, the Finn now heading Down Under a week early ahead of next weekend’s event at Albert Park.
The Adelaide Motorsport Festival will take place over the weekend in the Victoria Park section of the Adelaide Street Circuit.
A stunning range of vehicles have been announced to feature at the event which includes classic Formula 1, Tipo F1, open wheelers, Heritage Touring Cars and Supercars.
There’ll also be GTs and a great selection of McLarens, Ferraris and Porsche among many others.
Hayden Paddon is also set to make an appearance at the event when he takes the Hyundai Kona Rally Car out in the electric vehicles display.
The entry list for drivers and vehicles alike is simply spectacular, with the full list available on the Adelaide Motorsport Festival website worth checking out.
Bottas’s appearance adds some further flair to an event which continues to grow into a bucket list experience.
