Two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Earl Bamber will make his fifth GT World Cup appearance in next month’s event in Macau, with his Earl Bamber Motorsport outfit entered under a D2 Racing Team banner.
The event features a 12-lap qualifying race followed by a 16-lap title-deciding race and has not featured on the calendar since 2019, following a successful 5-year tenure after debuting in 2015.
Bamber will feature in the #22 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and is one of twelve platinum-rated drivers confirmed for the meet. He achieved a best result of third in the 2019 edition.
All five previous winners, including Raffaele Marciello, Daniel Juncadella, Maro Engel, Laurens Vanthoor, and Eduardo Mortara, will be present.
Other entrants include 2023 DTM Champion Thomas Preining, Nürburgring 24 Hours winner Matteo Cairoli, European Le Mans Series GTE class title winner Alessio Picariello and Porsche World Endurance Championship driver Kevin Estre, who competed with Matt Payne in the recent Bathurst 1000.
Five manufacturers, including seven Porsche, seven Mercedes, two Ferraris, two BMWs and four Audis, make up the 22-strong grid, with one Mercedes driver yet to be confirmed.
Ferrari will challenge for victory with its new 296 GT3, aiming for the first FIA GT World Cup triumph for a non-German manufacturer.
The FIA GT World Cup takes place from November 16-19 alongside the famed Macau Grand Prix.
