The Australian motorsport world is reeling, following reports that two of its largest annual events are set to be cancelled for 2021.
It’s reported that the Victorian Government will today announce the cancellation of the 2021 Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park and the 2021 Australian Grand Prix MotoGP event at Phillip Island due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Formula 1 event had already been rescheduled from the start of the year to a November date to give more time to allow the world to move on from the pandemic, with hopes that travel would have become easier by then.
The MotoGP event, meanwhile, had been scheduled for October 24 between the series’ events in Thailand and Malaysia.
More to come.
