Rick Armstrong has made a triumphant return to the top of the GT New Zealand Championship at Highlands Motorsport Park this weekend, following a dominant display aboard his Porsche 992.
Armstrong secured three victories in the Open Class over the weekend, finishing ahead of Luke Manson in both the 1 Hour opener and the final race, while Joel Giddy claimed the runner-up spot in Race 2.
This hall of points has now propelled Armstrong ahead of Giddy in the Open Class Championship, giving him a solid 32-point lead over Giddy in second place, with Manson trailing another 73 points behind in third.
In GT4, McLaren driver William Exton showcased another strong performance, securing two wins and a second-place finish across the weekend’s three races in the class. However, it wasn’t an easy ride, as rising star Ayrton Hodson fought hard to claim victory in his Toyota Supra during Sunday morning’s race.

Following his successful weekend at Highlands, Exton has extended his lead in the GT4 Standings, now sitting 200.5 points ahead of second-placed James Sax in the Mercedes, with Allan Sargeant just 7.5 points further behind in third, driving the Toyota Supra.
Marco Giltrap continued his string of wins in the Junior Pro class, sweeping all three races and extending his series lead in his Porsche 992.
The GT New Zealand Championship is now taking a short break before it resumes at Hampton Downs for the fifth and final round, taking place over March 21-23.
