Angus Fogg has claimed victory in the opening Central Muscle Cars race at Pukekohe’s final ever event.
It’s a fitting reward for one of the most successful racers to feature at the circuit in a career which has spanned nearly 20 years and seen him compete countless times at the track.
Fogg had started well off pole and led lights-to-flag to take victory over Shane Wigstone by 6.475 seconds. The battle for second was much tighter with Wigstone holding off a fast-finishing Andy Knight.
There was drama off the start for Tony Galbraith, a stall on the line seeing those behind left scrambling to part ways to avoid impact. Thankfully they did just that with Galbraith quickly getting underway and joining at the rear before moving forward.
The 10-lap race was the first of four Central Muscle Car races over the weekend with the following handicap races set to see the faster cars hunt down those who start ahead.
The action is continuing at Pukekohe with a massive lineup of races set to come through the afternoon and all day tomorrow.
