Aaron Slight fills in for Hayden Paddon this weekend at Teretonga for the third South Island Endurance Series round.
Slight raced in the World Superbike Championship between 1988 and 2000, winning several races and finishing second in the standings twice.
Yet, he has also proven to be proficient racing on four-wheels.
Slight made numerous starts in the British Touring Car championship over a two-year gig between 2001 and 2002.
He recently competed in the Otago Rally, driving a Ford Escort RS1800 BDA.
This weekend, Slight will act as co-driver for Martin Dippie in the Mitre 10 Porsche 997 Cup S.
Dippie had ex-WRC winner Paddon for rounds one and two.
They experienced an overheating drama in the season-opener, but bounced back to finish on the podium in round two.
Paddon is away racing his fully electric rally car in the Waimate 50 hillclimb this weekend.
Slight and Dippie will have testing today before qualifying early tomorrow morning.
The three-hour race then begins at 1.30 pm tomorrow.
