Kiwis Brock Gilchrist, Clay Osborne and Ayrton Hodson will continue their Porsche Sprint Challenge Australia campaigns at The Bend this weekend.
The trio are amongst a near-capacity grid of 32 entries for the three-race round.
Twelve cars will compete in the Pro Class and fifteen in Pro-Am, both running the 991.2 GT3 Cup Cars. Five will compete in Class B for the first-generation 991 GT3 Cup Cars.
Porsche Sprint Challenge Australia has raced at the South Australian Circuit every year since the venue opened in 2018, and the track is noted for producing outstanding Porsche racing.
Gilchrist enters the round level on points with Oscar Targett and Caleb Sumich at the top of the table, with the latter claiming the overall Round 1 victory at Phillip Island and, therefore, the early series lead by countback only thanks to winning the final race.
Osborne sits sixth in the standings, having podiumed in the opening two races, but was taken out in the finale while battling Hamish Fitzsimmons in a duel that would have determined round honours.
The DNF dropped Osborne to sixth in the standings.
Hodson’s 2024 campaign got off to a rocky start with a Race 1 DNF at Phillip Island, but he bounced back for tenth in Race 2 and seventh in the finale. He enters Round 2 eleventh in the standings.
The round is a part of the Shannon’s SpeedSeries meet at The Bend, which also features the GT World Challenge Australia, where Brendon Leitch, Tim Miles, Steve Brooks and Jaxon Evans will fly the New Zealand flag.
In the GT4 Australia competition, Kiwi Jackson Rooney will partner with Tony Quinn in the Game Over Mercedes-AMG GT4 for two one-hour races.
Qualifying begins at 9.55 am NZST on Saturday, with the 25-minute opener following at 4.05 pm.
The 45-minute Jim Richards Enduro starts at 10.30 am on Sunday, with the final sprint race at 3.45 pm.
