The World Endurance Championship’s Official Prologue has been pushed back two days due to shipping delays en route to Lusail International Circuit in Qatar.
The first official 2024 outing for the 19-strong Hypercar field was set to begin at 10.00 pm on Saturday (NZ time), with three further sessions following over the weekend.
The delays now see the first test scheduled for midnight tonight, followed by further sessions on Tuesday at 4.00 am and 8.00 pm before Wednesday’s final outing at midnight.
Teams may only compete in three of the four tests, with only the second and third sessions mandatory.
This weekend’s season-opening Qatar 1812 km will continue as scheduled, with the race, with a time limit of 10 hours, going green at 9.00 pm on Saturday.
Brendon Hartley enters the season-opener as the defending champion and rejoins Toyota Gazoo Racing with Sebastien Buemi and Ryo Hirakawa.
Earl Bamber and Alex Lynn enter the 2024 championship for Chip Ganassi Racing-run Cadillac Racing entry as a two-driver lineup and will have Sebastien Bourdais join them for the Qatar 1812km.
Live timing of the Prologue can be found on the World Endurance Championship website, with the race to be screened live on the WEC’s official app with a paid subscription.
