This weekend more than 170 competitors will flock to the track of Kartsport Hamilton for the 2024 APL Window Solutions NZ Karting Grand Prix.
Formerly known as the CIK trophy of NZ, the Karting Grand Prix will take place over three days on 9-11 February and features the best karters in the country.
Official practice is on Friday, followed by Qualifying and Heats on Saturday and the important pre-final and final on Sunday.
An array of drivers aged from six years to over 60 will compete, with classes including cadets, and the more experienced drivers in the intermediate and senior classes
Formula 1 star Liam Lawson is back on home turf and racing in the top-level KZ2 class after collecting his first Formula One points for Red Bulls Alpha Tauri last year.
Karting in NZ, most commonly known as the grassroots of Motorsport, has produced some big names globally, and Kartsport Hamilton has many of those names on their club champs board.
Spectators are free to attend the event, so come and witness a great field of drivers, with an option to also register your interest in a “have a go” day.
Kartsport Hamilton is located on Airport Road, Ohaupo, directly across from Hamilton Airport.
