Rodin Motorsport has confirmed that reigning British Formula Four Champion Louis Sharp remains within the team as he graduates to participate in the GB3 Championship for the upcoming 2024 season.
The New Zealander has been a force to be reckoned with since getting behind the wheel of a single-seat car and took championship honours last year in the British F4 Championship.
Backed by Rodin Cars, the strong working relationship continues into the upcoming season.
Sharp’s trajectory in motorsport has been impressive, and so far culminated in a brilliant Championship victory.
Joining the team at the start of 2022, Sharp was too young to participate in the opening round of the season however, despite this disadvantage, the rookie used all his talent to claim two victories and tally up an impressive amount of points to finish fourth overall.
Bringing all of his experience into a sophomore season with the team, Rodin Cars-backed Sharp made his intentions clear from the very start. A total of six wins, 14 podiums and 2 pole positions later, Sharp was crowned the British F4 Champion at the final round.
For the 2024 season, Sharp will graduate to the GB3Championship with the reigning champions Rodin Motorsport, who took Callum Voisin to the title in 2023.
Sharp looks to put all of his experience to good use around the British tracks he is already familiar with, however will have new circuits in Europe to contend with as he heads to Spa, Zandvoort and the Hungaroring as part of the exciting 2024 package.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Sharp said, “Once again, I will be racing with Rodin Motorsport, and I must thank David Dicker and all those at Rodin Cars for making this possible.
“Rodin took me to the F4 title and also has a great record in GB3, winning that drivers’ title as well as mine in2023. In terms of career progression and further success, I really could not hope to be with a better team.
“I wouldn’t be racing if I wasn’t aiming to win, so back-to-back titles is certainly the aim. However, it is a new category, so I’ve got to take that into account. Even so, I definitely want to be fighting at the front and fighting for the championship.”
GB3 Team Manager Ricky Taylor said, “Louis has been one of those drivers in recent years who has been really exciting to watch develop. He has been working closely with the team for a couple of seasons now, so he’s well-placed to make this move to a new championship; his experience and skills as the reigning British F4 Champion speaks for themselves.
“I’m confident that he will take to the car well and be a front runner from the very start – I look forward to him getting behind the wheel and for racing to begin.”
