Callum Hedge has extended his Formula Regional Americas championship lead with a lights-to-flag victory on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this morning.
The Kiwi had started off pole, with yesterday’s qualifying having been cancelled due to wet conditions, meaning the grid was set based on the championship standings.
Come race time, Hedge pulled away off the front, leading all 25 laps to take a commanding 13.073 second win over Ryan Shehan.
The victory boosts the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport’s drivers lead in the championship to 11 points, with Hedge’s winning streak now standing at five. Shehan sits second in the championship.
Hedge’s last four victories, including a clean-sweep at Road America, have been lights-to-flag wins.
Formula Regional Americas returns for two further races tonight. The first of those goes green at 2.10 am, with the finale at 7.05 am. Both will be available to watch on the SpeedTour TV YouTube page.
