Ryan Yardley’s charge forward continues in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America, with the Kiwi claiming another points finish by working his way to eighth.
The solid result comes as the Kiwi surged forward from 13th, keeping it clean and capitalising on pure race pace and the mistakes of other competitors ahead. It also proves his drive from 19th to 4th yesterday was no fluke, the Kiwi demonstrating pace which puts him among the championship front-runners.
American Riley Dickenson emerged atop the leaderboard once again, the Kellymoss Racing driver battling race-long with the season’s only other winner, Will Martin.
Martin held on for second, ahead of Alex Sedgwick, while McElrea Racing’s Tom Sargent failed to finish on the podium for the first time this season after spinning in a battle at the front with 10 minutes to run.
That spin came off the back of a caution with 17 minutes remaining when Canadians Jeff Mosing and Stefan Rzadzinskimade made big contact at the end of the back straight, both sustaining significant damage.
Finishing in the points in both races worked wonders for Yardley, who cements his place inside the championship top 10 as the season approaches its midway point.
The Porsche Carrera Cup North America next returns at Watkins Glen on June 22-25.
