The all-Kiwi Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia entry of Marco Giltrap and Chris van der Drift leave Sepang atop the championship standings after backing up Saturday’s crushing victory with second place in Race 2.
The Lamborghini Auckland entry, run by Absolute Racing, started from the rear of the grid, having failed to set a time in Qualifying 2 due to untimely red flags.
It was van der Drift, the 2019 champion, who got the nod for the first stint, the veteran powering off to a massive start from 18th to improve to 13th by Turn 2 before continuing to move forward throughout his stint.
Van der Drift handed over to Giltrap from second just after the halfway point, the young Kiwi having plenty of work to do to chase down leader Dan Wells on cold rubber.
While Giltrap ate into Wells’s lead, it was ultimately too little too late, with the D1 Racing driver taking victory by 1.3 seconds.
Second spot, from 18th on the grid, gave the Kiwis the round win, with Wells and driving partner Oscar Lee having finished fourth in Race 1.
Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia next returns on 9-11 June with its Australian debut at The Bend in Adelaide.
Both drivers will be back in action before then, with Giltrap looking to extend his Porsche Sprint Challenge Australia lead at the Tasmania SuperSprint and van der Drift returning to the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia at the Korea International Circuit on June 2-4.
