Huber Racing has called on the services of New Zealander Jaxon Evans to compete in their rookie season of the ADAC GT Masters in Germany.
Evans will line up alongside Silver driver Tim Zimmermann, a three-season veteran of the series, in a Porsche 911 GT3 R for the six-round, 12-race competition.
Team Principal Christoph Huber is excited at the prospect of having two such talents lining up for his outfit this season, praising both Evans and Zimmerman.
“We are extremely happy to have an experienced driver on board in Jaxon, who has already racked up a lot of race kilometres in Porsche’s GT3 models,” he said.
Evans has previous experience racing in the series, debuting at Red Bull Ring with ID-Racing last year and competing in the following round at Zandvoort, where he finished fifth in the opening race.
The Kiwi has already had a big year driving Porsche 911 GT3 R, competing in the 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring for Kelly Moss and Riley Motorsport.
Zimmermann has also experienced success in his budding career, winning the 2020 Pirelli Junior competition in his rookie season in ADAC GT Masters. He also won his first race in the series alongside Christopher Mies in last year’s round at Lausitzring.
“In Tim, we have one of the best Silver drivers you can get your hands on in the ADAC GT Masters,” says Huber.
Huber Racing have established themselves in Porsche one-make cups in recent years. Still, their expansion into the ADAC GT Masters will present a new challenge against some of the fastest manufacturers worldwide.
However, Huber is optimistic about their chances, saying, “first and foremost, we want to mix it at the front in the ADAC GT Masters. Our aspiration is to be the best Porsche team in the field.
“For this reason, we are also aiming for podiums and race wins in our first season. It would be great if we were in contention for the title going into the final race. I am expecting a strong field in the ADAC GT Masters again this season.”
The 2023 ADAC GT Masters season begins at Hockenheimring on June 9. Rounds at Norisring, Nurburgring, Sachsenring and Austria’s Red Bull Ring follow this before the series returns to Hockenheimring for the finale in late October.
Each race is one hour long, plus one lap, with a compulsory pit stop and driver change required. Each driver must start one of the two races per round, typically beginning with the amateur in Race 1 and the Pro in Race 2.
