Youngsters star around Oran Park in ARG eSport Cup

Harley Haber and Lachlan Mineef have shared the spoils in round seven of the ARG eSports Cup, contested in the Audi TCR around the now defunct Oran Park circuit in New South Wales.

The duo would have never physically raced at the circuit in their motorsport careers, but nonetheless the youngsters demonstrated their prowess when it comes to adapting to a new venue in the simulator by claiming dominant wins.

The result was much needed for points leader Haber who had suffered a difficult round last week at Phillip Island.

Starting alongside Garth Tander for race one, Haber maintained a healthy margin at the front as Tander and Brett Holdsworth duelled over second position.

Unfortunately for Holdsworth, the TansAm racer crashed heavily into the pitlane entry wall, ending his promising run.

As the pitstops played themselves out, British Touring Car ace Ash Sutton found himself in second while further behind him Tander came unstuck with Jordan Cox in an awkward pitlane rejoin.

The two would carry on but had lost a significant portion of time to the leaders.

Haber cruised to an unrivalled victory 9s ahead of Sutton with Tander holding off Cox for third.

James Golding came home fifth ahead of the kiwi duo of Jaden Ransley and Tom Alexander.

The reverse top-20 second race meant wildcard Josh Files took pole but was unable to resist the fast-starting Declan Fraser and Lachlan Mineef who held onto the first two positions as the field began their second tour.

Fraser would then make a costly mistake at turn one and relinquish the leader to Mineef.

From there Mineeff took a commanding victory over Files while Jaden Ransley put in a strong finish to claim the final podium spot.

Having been compelled to start 20th, Haber scythed his way through the field to claim fourth place at the chequered flag. Chelsea Angelo would round out the top five.

Next week sees the grid have a pair of races in the Formula 3 cars around the storied Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix.
