Shane van Gisbergen, Broc Feeney and Maximilian Gotz are the three drivers confirmed by Triple Eight Race Engineering to take control of their #888 Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the Bathurst 12 Hour.
The trio will compete in the Pro class with backing from Supercheap Auto.
Triple Eight are expected to be a front-running team at the event following their outright victory with SunEnergy1 Racing in this year’s event. The #888 Mercedes also finished third in that race with a Pro-Am lineup of van Gisbergen, Feeney and Prince Jefri Ibrahim.
Pro class was not run this year.
The Bathurst 12 Hour starts off what’s expected to be an extremely busy year for van Gisbergen, a full-time Supercars campaign topped with potential NASCAR, GT and rallying cameos.
It will be the Kiwi’s ninth Bathurst 12 Hour, an event he’s won in class once before, claiming the AP Pro-Am class with Tekno Autosports in 2016.
Outright victory will be top of his to do list come February as he searches for yet another accolade to add to his ever-growing CV.
Feeney and Gotz are definitely drivers who can help accomplish this, both with a long list of achievements of their own.
Feeney is van Gisbergen’s teammate at Red Bull Ampol Racing in Supercars and recently claimed his maiden, breakthrough victory at the season-concluding Adelaide 500.
The 20-year-old also has raced this car over Mount Panorama before, most recently winning the Bathurst International with Prince Jefri Ibrahim. He was also involved in the lineup with van Gisbergen that finished third this year.
Mercedes’ factory driver Gotz has also worked up an impressive list of accomplishments in a career which spans over 20 years. The German’s current full-time gig is in the DTM, which he won in 2021 over New Zealander Liam Lawson by just three points.
The Bathurst 12 Hour takes place over February 3-5.
