2010 Supercars Champion James Courtney will join the Supercars field in this week’s fifth round of the BP All Star Eseries.
Courtney has been absent from the Supercars paddock since making his shock departure from Team Sydney following the season-opening round in Adelaide.
As reported by speedcafe.com, Courtney will sport a Boost Mobile-backed livery for all three races at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Though the 39-year-old admits it will be an evening of playing catchup to his rivals and doesn’t expect to be close to the front of the field once the lights go out.
“I’ve got zero experience,” Courtney told Speedcafe.com.
“All that stuff was only just starting at the end of my time in Europe. The simulation wasn’t really good enough at the time to justify it, so it’s all very new for me.
“I hooked up with the guys at Next Level Racing on the Gold Coast here and they sorted me out with some gear. I didn’t even have a computer to run it.
“I’m up against it a little bit; but I enjoy it, having a crack and having a bit of fun with it all.
“A lot of these guys will be taking it a lot more seriously than what I will be, that’s for sure.
“I’m not in any way speedy or predicting that I’m going to win in the Eseries.”
Courtney is a part of a star studded wildcard line up for this week which sees McLaren Formula 1 ace Lando Norris set to make his debut in a Walkinshaw Andretti United-backed Commodore.
Meanwhile, Super2 drivers Jayden Ojeda and Broc Feeney have also confirmed their place on the grid for Wednesday’s night event.
The fifth round of the BP Supercars All Star Eseries gets underway tomorrow from 8 pm NZT on Sky Sport and will also be livestreamed via the Supercars Facebook page.
