During the final Supercars round at Pukekohe Park Raceway last weekend, Hayden Paddon was on hand to reveal the livery his car will be sporting at the upcoming Repco Rally New Zealand.
Paddon’s Hyundai i20 Rally2 that he will be driving alongside usual co-driver John Kennard was on show for all to see in its new scheme which features red accents adopted from long-time motorsport supporter Repco New Zealand.
“It’s great to have Repco come on board to complement our Hyundai New Zealand program is a natural fit. We really want to represent both of the brands on top of the podium,” said Paddon.
The Kiwi driver has recently shipped the car over from Europe where he competed in multiple WRC2 rounds, picking up third place in the category in Rally Finland with the car.
The i20 previously wore a classic Kiwi black and white livery but the new splash of red is most certainly helps it stand out.
When the rally makes its way to New Zealand for the first time in ten years later this month, Paddon and Kennard will also compete in the WRC2 category like they did in Europe.
Other drivers the pair will be competing against include current Supercars championship leader Shane van Gisbergen, fellow Kiwi Ben Hunt and Australian Rally champion Harry Bates.
“I think the WRC2 field for the event is very strong, with Kiwi and Australian competitors,” added Paddon. “It’s going to be a nice battle to be a part of.”
Repco Rally New Zealand is based in the Auckland region and takes in iconic stages such as Whaanga Coast, Kaipara Hills and ending on the purpose-built and exciting Jack’s Ridge stage just south of Auckland.
Repco Rally New Zealand kicks off on September 29, concluding on October 2.
