Former Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen will be making his return to NASCAR in the Cup Series this weekend at Watkins Glen International circuit.
The Finnish driver ended his near 20 year long F1 career in Abu Dhabi last year as the season drew to a close and hasn’t returned the racetrack since.
However, Raikkonen has decided to give NASCAR another go after he initially drove in the series back in 2011 while he spent a few years away from the F1 paddock.
He will be competing for Trackhouse Racing as part of a project to get more international racing drivers into NASCAR called PROJECT91.
The livery of his NASCAR race-spec car has yet to be revealed.
Raikkonen recently got behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 test car for some practice laps around Virginia International Raceway in preparation for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen on August 21.
