Scott Dixon has finished third in the Detroit Grand Prix, with Hunter McElrea second in the Indy Lights race, while Scott McLaughlin had a difficult day.
Will Power narrowly held on to take the IndyCar race win, despite a late charge from Alex Rossi.
McLaughlin moved ahead of Dixon early on the opening lap, with Rossi following the Kiwi through shortly after, dropping Dixon a few paces back from where he started.
Rossi continued to charge through the feild early in the race passing a number of cars before making his first pit stop, the team opting for the three-stop strategy.
As the first stint went on Dixon started to climb through the pack, while McLaughlin began falling back, as the red tyres he started the race on fell away.
Shortly before making his first stop of the race, McLaughlin locked a wheel, running down the Turn 3 escape road, though he was able to get back on track without bringing out a safety car, he did fall off the lead lap.
Through the second stint of the race, Rossi who sat fourth on the track closed the gap to race leader Power. However, the gap would start to open back up as Rossi was held up passing Dixon and teammate Alex Palou.
By the time Rossi passed Dixon the gap to Power had extended, sitting 18 seconds back from the Team Penske driver.
After the leaders completed their final stops of the race, there was a 16-second gap from leader Power to Rossi in second. It was in the last 10 laps of the race that the gap started to diminish, but Power narrowly held onto the lead of the race, crossing the line just a second ahead of Rossi to take the race win after starting from 16th on the grid.
Dixon finished third, while McLaughlin crossed the line 19th, unable to get back on the lead lap after the early moment.
Indy Lights
Hunter McElrea crossed the line second in the Indy Lights race finishing 3.7005s off race winner Linus Lundqvist.
McElrea was the highest placed rookie, having fended off Andretti Autosports teammate Sting Ray Robb.
The Kiwi driver recovered from a difficult first race of the weekend which saw him cross the line 12th. McElrea currently sits sixth in the championship.
Lundqvist had been dominant through the weekend taking both race wins on offer, extending his championship lead.
IndyCar and Indy Lights will be back on track at Road America next weekend.
