Two drivers have reportedly been taken to hospital on the final day of Rally Otago.
The accident occurred on Stage 13 at around 11 am. The car crashed on Otokia-Kuri Bush road, rolled on its side before catching fire.
Rally organisers cancelled the stage to allow firefighters access onto the road.
According to the Otago Daily Times, the two drivers are being cared to by medics at Dunedin Hospital.
One driver is said to have moderate injuries, and the other is reported to have minor injuries.
Hayden Paddon held a nearly five-minute lead over Ben Hunt at the last completed stage.
On Saturday, Paddon experienced a driveshaft failure but bounced back to win six of the day’s seven stages.
Hunt is making his debut for the Skoda Rally New Zealand team today.
There are three more stages to run before the Rally ends Sunday afternoon.
