Brendon Leitch is going red and black, locking in a deal to race the Crowdstrike ST Evo2 in this year’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship.
Leitch will partner American racer Gerhard Watzinger in the Pro-Am class.
“Pumped to get behind the wheel and chase those wins with Gerhard,” Leitch said.
The Invercargill driver previously raced in the Asian Super Trofeo Series in 2019. He finished second in the Pro-Am class that season.
Since then, Leitch has moved to Germany, signed a deal with GT team Leipert and landed a full-time gig in the GT World Challenge Europe endurance series.
Stints in the British GT championship, GTC and the 24-Hour series has kept Leitch busy at the wheel the last two years.
Last week, Leitch tested his GT Challenge machine (also a Lambo) in France.
His Super Trofeo gig is the latest addition to what’s shaping to be one of Leitch’s busiest years as a driver.
When he’s not in the driver’s seat, Leitch is either donning the engineer’s headset or assisting the head mechanic in keeping the team’s cars in race-ready condition.
Both Super Trofeo Europe and the GT World Challenge Europe are slated to begin their 2022 seasons at Imola on April 1-3, meaning Leitch will be doing double duty.
