Fabian Coulthard is back.
Well, he never truly left, but after losing his full-time Supercars seat this year, it looked likely we wouldn’t see Fabs behind a wheel until enduro time rolled around.
But that is not to be the case. Coulthard has announced he’ll make a one-off TCR Australia appearance in next weekend’s season-opener.
“It’s an exciting opportunity,” Coulthard said.
He’ll be racing a Honda Civic Type R run by Wall Racing for the weekend at Symmons Plains in Tasmania. It’s a circuit Coulthard knows well and was the place of his first Supercars win in 2013.
Spotting Coulthard on TV will be easy. His Civic is decked out in a bright blue Stan Sport livery.
Coulthard will have Tony D’Alberto as his teammate.
“I’ll be looking to get some tips from my old mate Tony D’Alberto and I’m excited to partner with him again.
“Although I lack experience racing a front-wheel-drive touring car compared to my rivals, it provides a new challenge for me.”
While next weekend is a one-off for Coulthard, it perhaps opens the door for him to continue racing full-time in Australia outside of Supercars beyond this year.
He is also primed to bag a top seat in this season’s Bathurst 1000 as a co-driver.
