Speed Works Events has confirmed that its meeting at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park next month will go ahead.
Event organisers have gone through the red light setting requirements, to ensure the February 12-13 event will run in accordance with the requirements.
“We have worked very closely with the circuit management and MSNZ along with categories to ensure the meeting can go ahead,” explained Geoff Short.
“Safety is paramount and we have a straightforward plan where we can go racing safely and fully in accordance with the rules.”
Categories at the event will each have their own defined space in the paddock. There will also be two designated areas for spectators, which will each be limited to 100 people.
Vaccine passports will be required for all those at the event, with emphasis on all attendees using the contract tracing app.
“The categories are supportive and we will have an Open GT race as the feature race in place of the Grand Prix remains,” Short added. “We will release more news of that later in the week ahead.”
The event will also see the Super GT, Toyota 86 championship, NAPA Central Muscle Cars, TradeZone GTRNZ, NEXEN Tires Mazda Racing Series, Hi Q Components Formula First, the RYCO 24-7 V8 Utes and Racer Products V8s out on track alongside the Open GT race.
Speed Works had to cancel the round due to be held at Taupo International Motorsport Park this weekend, as they didn’t have enough time to re-plan the meeting according to the red light setting requirements.
