Matthew Payne finished 11th in the first Porsche Carrera Cup race of the weekend.
Payne started the race in ninth but dropped back after an incident with David Russel, both cars were having moments heading into the chase, but Payne made contact with Russel on the entry to the corner.
Both were able to continue on in the race, Russel going on to finish 10th ahead of Payne.
the start of the Porsche Carrera Cup race was delayed and ultimately shortened from 11 laps to seven after a dramatic session for Super2 meant repairs were needed for a wall on the exit of the chase
Aaron Love was fighting with David Wall for the race win on the final lap and brushed the wall heading up the mountain, dropping back from Wall, and back into third behind Cameron Hill at the finish line.
Calum Hedge was able to move forward through the shortened race finishing 15th after qualifying in 17th.
Madeline Stewart who is making her debut in the Porsche’s this weekend finished the first race in 26th although, by the end of the race she was setting personal best lap times, as she got more used to the car.
Craig Lowndes was also able to make significant progress through the race, finishing just outside the top five in sixth, after qualifying for the race in 12th.
The series will head back out on track for the next race tomorrow afternoon at 4.45 pm
