Having finished tied on points with Scott O’Donnell after four rounds, Dennis Chapman has been confirmed as the 2021 South Island Endurance Series one-hour Class A and B champion.
The news of Chapman’s title win was made official at 2.30 pm, three hours after the end of the race.
Both drivers ended the year equal on points when Chapman finished second in this morning’s race and O’Donnell third.
The SIERDC rulebook says that if no winner is found on points, it is awarded to the driver with the most wins.
Neither Chapman nor O’Donnell won a race this season.
So, the championship goes to the driver who finishes second the most times.
Chapman had one P2 finish, which came today, whereas O’Donnell had none.
Chapman was racing an Audi TCR prepared by Track Tec Racing this season.
