The New Zealand Endurance Championship grand final scheduled for next month has been postponed until April 2022.
Hampton Downs was meant to host the one-off round, which pits the top cars from the North and South Island against each other.
However, uncertainty around Covid-19 alert levels and when the country will reopen for domestic travel forced organisers into pushing the race back.
The new date is now April 8-9.
“The decision to move the November events to April 2022 was logical given the current situation,” Speed Work’s Geoff Short said.
“The South Island endurance series dates have also been affected, so the move will give these events a better chance of running successfully.
“It’s a shame, of course, but it wouldn’t be right to expect people to plan long trips and hotel accommodation when the situation is currently changing on a daily basis.
“Thanks go to Hampton Downs for working with us to find a solution to reschedule these events into April 2022.”
This year’s North Island Endurance Series was run over four rounds between May and June.
Alex Riberas and Darren Kelly won the three-hour title in the Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
John De Veth and Glenn Smith triumphed in the one-hour championship.
The South Island Endurance Series has recently wrapped up their second of four rounds.
Scott O’Donnell and Allan Dippie lead the three-hour series in their Porsche 991 GT3R.
Ryan Wood and Mike Hall are leading the two one-hour classes.
