Racer Products NZ have partnered with MARC Cars Australia to become the manufacturer’s New Zealand distributor and technical support.
The partnership aims to further grow the MARC Cars brand across New Zealand motorsport. The news of the announcement follows the launch of the new MARC GT (main image) last week.
“Our focus moving forward is to see as many MARC Cars on grids around the world,” MARC Cars Australia owner Geoff Taunton said.
“The reach and network Racer Products NZ has in New Zealand made for a simple decision to partner with them to achieve this goal.”
Technical and customer racing support of MARC Cars will be based at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park where Racer Products have set up a new branch office and showroom in association with Mackenzie Motorsport.
PACE Innovations will carry out the design and supply of the MARC GT.
PACE Innovations designed and built the New Zealand V8 SuperTourer cars and Australia’s first Gen2 V8 Supercar chassis.
The MARC GT uses a DTM-inspired body style and is powered by a Chevrolet LS3 engine.
The GT is an evolution of the MARC Focus and Mazda cars, running the same paddle-shift Albin ST6 Transaxle and Brembo brake package.
Power output of the MARC GT is similar to that of the Focus and Mazda.
“We are very excited to represent Marc Cars here in New Zealand,” Racer Products managing director and former NZ Touring Car champion Mark Petch said.
“The new Marc GT is a logical evolution of Marc Cars Ford Focus and Mazda variants but offers a European DTM-looking coupe powered by the world’s most popular high-performance crate engine, the GM Ls3.
“With an expected turn-key price of Australian $260,000.00 [NZ$273,000.00], the car comes complete with, ABS, paddle shift, a 570 BHP 6.2-litre high torque engine, weigh’s approximately 1200 Kgs and possess a 50/50 perfect weight distribution in low fuel trim.
“We are expecting strong interest from both endurance and sprint racers a like, as the Marc GT is designed to be a true rival to the new 992 Porsche GT3 Cup car, with significantly lower running cost.”
Two MARC Cars are already racing in New Zealand – a MARC II V8 Mustang and a MARC Ford Focus. Both currently compete in the South Island Endurance Series.
