This weekend, Kiwi rally driver Emma Gilmour travels to Capo Teulada in Sulcis-Iglesiente, Sardinia, for her second Extreme E X-Prix.
Gilmour drove with the Veloce Extreme E team in Greenland earlier this year, replacing the team’s regular female driver Jamie Chadwick who was racing in the W Series.
Once again, Chadwick is unavailable, giving Gilmour a shot at redemption after falling narrowly shy of making the final in Greenland.
This weekend’s course takes place on a hard rock surface and includes water splashes, environmental obstacles and fast downhill sections to provide a unique challenge.
Like last time, Gilmour is driving alongside Stéphane Sarrazin this weekend.
“In Greenland, we came so close to the Final so naturally we are all wanting to get back on the course,” Sarrazin said.
“We had strong pace last time out so I think we can definitely capitalise on that and now Emma and I have had more time working as a team, I think we can bag a good result in Sardinia.”
Drivers have a split qualifying on Saturday. Each car will do two laps with a driver change in between.
Qualifying times then equate to points, which puts drivers into respective semi-finals.
The event is live on TVNZ and the Extreme E YouTube channel.
