Marcus Armstrong and Liam Lawson had a disappointing end to their Formula 2 British Grand Prix weekend, finishing outside the points in the feature race.
Lawson finished in 11th, while Armstrong was one place back in 12th.
The pair had a brief exchange on track, with Armstrong tucking into Lawson’s slipstream along the back straight before a half-hearted lunge failed to convert into any positional change.
Earlier, a sublime start from Lawson had him move from 11th to ninth, a position he held until the pitstop phase.
Unfortunately, he fell outside the top ten as the rest of the field played out their pitstop strategies.
From there, the race was relatively mirthless as little happened up and down the field.
Armstrong’s teammate Roy Nissany had a high-speed spin while chasing the Kiwi. However, the race ran uninterrupted for its entirety.
Guanyu Zhou won the race after passing polesitter Oscar Piastri on the opening lap and dominating the race.
One of the only on-track battles was the duel for third between Piastri and Richard Verschoor, which was ultimately settled on the final corner of the last lap.
Dan Ticktum rounded out a solid weekend to finish second.
The next round of the F2 championship is at Monza in Italy on September 11 – 12.
