Back-to-back Dutch Supercar Champion, Stan Van Oord, will join Track Tec Racing for round 2 of the ARG eSport Series taking place at the Zolder circuit in Belgium tonight.
Van Oord, who will be competing from Woudrichem in the Netherlands, joined the ARG TCR Asia Pacific Cup grid with the Cromwell-based team at the Rolex Australian Grand Prix before the event was cancelled the Friday morning.
Van Oord was set to join the team for round 1 last week but was left on the side-lines as his simulator had yet to arrive.
Round 1 at Bathurst saw British Touring Car champion Ash Sutton take out Race 1. Race 2 was won by New Zealander Rowan Shepherd racing with Track Tec Racing squad. The team will be looking to carry their momentum forward ahead of the two races tonight.
“It [Zolder] feels like a home race for me! I drove quite a lot of laps there in both the Audi and Cupra TCR. It will be my first ever online league race and I’m really looking forward to it,” Van Oord said.
“I have been doing a lot of online practice with my coach, Niels Langeveld, and I already noticed that there is still a lot to learn even though I know the track.
“I think the main reason we do the eRacing series is to learn and improve our skills, as well as to entertain the fans. For us drivers, it is great to get some good on-track fun. We need to make the best of the current situation.”
Tonight’s race from Zolder will begin from 10 pm NZT and will be streamed via the TCR Australia YouTube and Facebook channels.
