Bill Frazer is finding a real liking to the Mid-Ohio sports car circuit, scoring his equal career-best result in one of his most impressive drives this season.
The former New Zealand Formula Ford champion overtook Nolan Siegel on lap five of 20 to snatch fourth.
He would maintain fourth to the chequered flag and was the lead rookie driver home.
Frazer’s overtake was his sole move in the race. The youngster benefited from a mammoth qualifying effort to start fifth.
He finished fourth in race three of the opening round at Barber Motorsport Park but had yet to crack the top ten again until today.
“Super happy with the result,” Frazer said. “[I’m] loving this track.”
Peter Vodanovich once again proved he is an overtaking machine, charging from 23rd to 15th over the race.
With several laps also run under caution, Vodanovich’s push may have been even better had the race stayed green.
The result ties with Vodanovich’s best finish of the season, and he has now finished 15th four times from 11 races.
There are two more races this weekend for the USF2000 field.
Race two will start tomorrow at 6.30 am NZT, with Frazer set to start from sixth.
