Jaxon Evans will have a unique opportunity this weekend when he competes alongside award-winning actor Michael Fassbender.
The Kiwi will drive a Porsche 911 RSR 19 in the third round of the European Le Mans Series at Paul Ricard, with Fassbender and Richard Leitz as co-drivers.
Fassbender is most well-known for his lead role as Steve Jobs in the film ‘Steve Jobs’ and starring in X-Men and 300.
Fassbender is an avid racer outside his acting career and has been a part of the Proton Racing team for the last two ELMS seasons.
Evans partook in the opening round of the ELMS earlier this year, driving the sister Proton Racing Porsche.
The 24-year-old finished third in class alongside Matt Campbell and team-owner Christian Ried.
However, Fassbender’s regular co-driver Felipe Laser is competing in the Nürburgring 24 Hour this weekend, with Evans filling the vacant slot.
“During the Monaco race weekend, I received a message from Christian Ried, the team owner at Proton, asking if I was available for the third round of ELMS,” Evans said.
“To be sharing a car with someone like Michael Fassbender, who has some great A-list movies next to his name, it’s such a cool opportunity.
“In the end he shares the same passion; he’s passionate about racing, he’s got a crew following him around documenting his journey and it’s sort of a pinch yourself moment.”

This year, Evans is racing in World Endurance Championship and the Porsche Supercup. His spontaneous ELMS gigs fill in his rare free weekends.
“Next weekend is Portimao for the second round of WEC and then there’s back-to-back rounds of Supercup at the Red Bull Ring in Austria,” he said.
“It’s exciting.”
The Paul Ricard round of the ELMS is streamed live on YouTube and social media.
The race begins at 9 pm NZT, Sunday, June 6.
