The second round of the NZ Super Truck championship from Teretonga Park has been cancelled.
The rapidly evolving Covid-19 situation has forced the cancellation and postponement of sporting events across the country – a trend set to escalate after the government has announced the annulment of all unnecessary gatherings that exceed 500 people.
A statement from the Southland Sports Car Club read:
“The NZ Super Truck meeting at Teretonga Park in Invercargill this weekend has been cancelled with regard to the current situation with COVID-19.
“A directive from Motorsport New Zealand has meant that the Southland Sports Car Club have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the event.
“Pre-purchased tickets to the event will be refunded. Please contact the Teretonga Park office on 03 213 0522 during business hours for further information.
“The Southland Sports Car Club are disappointed that this decision had to be taken but wish to thank their loyal supporters for their attendance at Teretonga Park throughout the season.”
The series has already completed the opening round from Levels raceway in late January, with Troy Wheeler leading Dave West in the points standings.
The next event is scheduled to be held in Ruapuna on March 28-29.
