The calendar for the 2021 Golden Homes North Island Endurance Series has been revealed.
Four rounds will run between April and June, with only the season finale yet to have a firm venue.
The championship will open at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Taupo on April 17.
Pukekohe will host the second round on May 9 followed by Hampton Downs on May 29.
The season will conclude at either Manfield in Feilding, or return to Pukekohe Park. The date for the final round is scheduled for June 19.
The North Island will host this year’s rendition of the New Zealand Endurance Championship.
It is a welcome return to four rounds after the Covid-19 pandemic reduced last year’s season to just two events.
This year will also see the launch of a new two-hour clubman race.
The two-hour endurance race will run on the same day as the existing one- and three-hour endurance races.
However, it will instead be exclusive solely for cars whose best lap time at Hampton Downs and Pukekohe is over 1m13.0s.
The race will still have a highly competitive element to it, with points and a championship on offer. Similarly, there will be a compulsory timed pit stop for refuelling and driver changes in order to best manage safety during refuelling.
